About Me
Hi — I am a problem solver who works with customers and teams to turn solutions into products.
My story
I’ve spent 20+ years in software, the last three as a product manager after a dozen in engineering leadership — a path that shaped how I work: I’ve been close enough to the implementation to know which ideas are cheap and which are expensive.
At Marin Software I grew from technical lead to Director then Senior Director of Engineering (2012–2022) — building search features across five ad platforms, leading a 30-person Shanghai team, and delivering a new-generation OLAP pipeline that made intraday cost and revenue reporting 12× faster. In 2022 I moved to the product side, and as Technical Product Manager shipped an AI chatbot with three specialized sub-agents (help, reporting, campaign management) on Azure OpenAI, a Scripts platform running 700+ marketing automations, and ML-based anomaly detection deployed across hundreds of campaigns.
Before Marin: underwriting automation at Trilogy, trade-processing tooling at MetLife, anti-money-laundering systems at Morgan Stanley, and my own offshore engineering consultancy in Shanghai. Along the way: an M.Eng. from Cornell, a B.A. in physics from Berkeley, and a lasting habit of building the thing, not just specifying it.
What I’m doing now
These days I split my time between product work and hands-on building. The three projects featured on this site — a worship-music rendering platform, a Rust CLI for Google Ads, and an LLM analyst for ad accounts — are the clearest examples of how I work: pick a real problem, design the product around the user’s constraints, then ship the code, the infrastructure, and the evaluation loop that proves it works. I write about the interesting parts as I go.
